The Artist - Melissa Farrell

Automotive Art by Melissa Farrell

Ms. Farrell’s passion for the automobile and all it represents is reflected in her artwork.
Each LIMITED EDITION PRINT is based on an ORIGINAL colored pencil drawing. The artist, being a classic car enthusiast, began the car series by drawing her Triumphs. Melissa has just finished a drawing featuring the Old English Sportscars (Jaguar, Healey, MG, Sunbeam, Morgan, and TR). The cars are always featured with appropriate backgrounds such as Buckingham Palace, Atop the Acropolis, or typical settings of the past such as drive-ins. In the coming months she is planning to expand her subjects to some of the American Muscle cars like the Corvette, Mustang, Camaro, and Firebird.

Research is underway in plans for prints of other classic and antique cars such as Rolls Royce, Bentley, Auburn, Ferrari, and Maserati. Being a proud owner of a ’91 BRG Miata, she has plans to draw the Miata and other popular convertibles like the Porsche Boxter, BMW Z, Honda, and Mercedes. She has recently finished a drawing featuring The Lakewood Yacht Club’s Wooden Keels and Classic Wheels show held each year the first weekend in May. This drawing depicts a Mercedes, Ford Woody, Jaguar, Corvette, Cadillac, and the Aerocar of the 50s. Wooden boats by Chris Craft are also featured this drawing.

You can commission this automobile enthusiast to create a handsome drawing of your vintage or classic wheels.  Request a special location for your fantasy drawing. Accomplished at figure drawing, this artist can even put you at the wheel! Ms. Farrell prefers to work from life, but can work from photographs when necessary.

Ms. Farrell is an active member of The Vintage Triumph Register (VTR) and the Texas Triumph Register (TTR). She and her husband are both long time members of The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). The Farrells have been active participants in rallies, autocrosses, and concours events. Autocross is Melissa’s favorite. She enjoys testing the limits of the car in cornering and speed.  In past years Melissa has held National 2nd and 3rd place positions for Solo II with the SCCA, ladies stock classes.  For the last two years she placed 1st in the Women’s combined TR 2,3, & 4 (four cylinder) class at the VTR Nationals. She and her husband have proudly exhibited their ’63 TR3-B this year at VTR Divisionals and Nationals, Lakewood’s Keels and Wheels, and Houston’s All British Day resulting in 1st place awards for its class at each show. Their TR3-B also won Best-in-Show at the ’03 VTR Divisionals.
